ready for A PROGRAMME THAT TAKES THE DOUBT & FEAR OUT OF BIRTH for both of you?

you want to stop feeling like a spare part and do everything you can to support your wife, to help her feel more in control, less worried, and experience less pain during labour, you want to know where you fit into all of this.

As a Dad it’s easy to feel that information is geared towards your wife and leaves you feeling out a bit clueless and disconnected.

Welcome to The Birth Preparation Programme: a 4 week deep dive into everything you need to know about birth so that

you can be the best birth partner possible.

What you learn on this programme will show you the way.

Why you need this:

The type of birth your partner experiences impacts on your wife and baby’s emotional and physical wellbeing. Birth is massively influenced by a number of factors, at least FIVE are firmly under you and your partner’s control and influence:

1) The amount of fear and tension your partner experiences (makes for longer more tiring labour, increases sensations of pain, and nudges her towards potentially unwanted medical intervention). You can support her to feel as calm and relaxed as possible.

2) The birth environment must feel safe, private, and as unobserved as possible. There are many things you can do in a medical setting (and at home) to make the space feel more calm and relaxed. The more calm and relaxed you can make it the better her birth experience will be.

3) How prepared you are for what might happen: if you respond with fear, worry and tension your wife can sense that. You need to be supportive, calm, informed.

4) Being informed. Couples who don’t know their birth options or how to discuss them often defer all decision to the medical staff. This can lead to unwanted intervention (from a hospital’s point of view this might speed things up and make a bed available sooner, allow them to cover their backs from an insurance point of view etc but that doesn’t mean it’s the BEST or ONLY solution for your partner).

5) The position she chooses to birth in. Lying down on her back is one of the worst she could choose (unless medical reason why she must). This programme takes the guess work out of birthing positions.

Birth Preparation Programme

What’s the programme

The Birth Preparation Programme is 10 hours long and takes place over four evenings (6.45 - 9pm). It’s designed to support you and your partner to feel:

  • Calm

  • Relaxed

  • Informed

  • Confident

  • Prepared

  • Able to respond to changing circumstances no matter what they might be.

The Birth Preparation Programme I teach is based on SCIENCE & PHYSIOLOGY. It includes mindset and breathing strategies, as well as how to physically and emotionally prepare for birth. It isn’t hippy guess-work. It’s the same principles used by the world’s top Olympic athletes to prime their minds and bodies for success.

Who runs the course

My name’s Sophia Hanson. I’m a birth coach, prenatal yoga and hypnobirthing (mind & breathing strategies based on science) teacher. I teach a programme (which I tailor to couples) that is supported by NHS midwives and has helped thousands of couples to have a better birth experience. It cannot 100% guarantee your partner the birth of her dreams (no-one can) but it can support her to have a better birth (potentially less pain, shorter labour time, less risk of tearing or unwanted intervention) knowing that you have both made the right decisions on the day. I’m based 13 miles outside Inverness in Conon Bridge, and work with couples the world over.
