Just peed on ‘the stick’ and got a positive?
There are so many BIG moments in a person’s life; Everything from the day you started secondary school, first kiss to when you went to uni or got your first job.
Then there’s the first time you got dumped or had sex, met your amazing partner - but NOTHING quite compares to the moment you find out YOU’RE PREGNANT!
It’ll make you fizzy and freaked at the same time!!
Whether you’ve been trying to conceive for months (or years) or this baby has sneaked up on you ‘out of nowhere’ it’s still a BIG adjustment to KNOW that YOU ARE GOING TO BE A MUM!!
It’s amazing.
It’s overwhelming.
It’s exhausting.
It’s exciting.
It’s every kind of thought and emotion ALL AT ONCE!! Babies change EVERYTHING.
Women think every kind of thought so don’t feel bad if you weren’t instantly humming lullabies and dreaming of cute booties (baby booties my friend)…
Here are 10 of the most common thoughts (and their flip side).
1) YOU: It’s definitely positive, I’m pregnant! (happy dance).
ALSO YOU: It could be negative. I’ll do another five tests just to be !00% sure (but I’ll order them online so nobody sees)
2) YOU: No WAY! OMG I am so happy I’m shaking.
ALSO YOU: OMG. I don’t believe it. This is the scariest thing ever. I AM freaking OUT.
3) YOU: I KNEW it, and it’s definitely a boy.
ALSO YOU: Or wait, no, I think it’s a girl.
4) YOU: I’m going on a health kick right now. Smoothies, green leafy vegetables, lots of water, yoga and meditation.
ALSO YOU: I need wine. Now. Feed me chips, feed me anything beige. Bring me pizza.
5) YOU: I am going to rock pregnancy and birth like a serene Goddess. Watch me.
ALSO YOU: This birth better not be like the last one.
6) YOU: (sobbing and touching your belly) I LOVE this baby so so much
ALSO YOU: It’s so freaky to think there’s a little person growing in there. It’s like having an alien spying on me. Can they hear what I’m thinking already? Hey you, in there…
7) YOU: This is so amazing. I am going to tell everyone I am pregnant right now.
ALSO YOU: I am not telling ANYONE about this pregnancy. I feel so guilty because because [insert name of good friend] has been trying for a baby for two years. She’s going to hate me.
8) YOU: I’m going to keep this a secret and surprise my partner on his birthday | anniversary | Christmas | special day.
ALSO YOU: (Runs straight to partner) OMG guess what I’m pregnant!!! (bursts into tears).
9) YOU: I’m not bothered what I look like when I’m pregnant as long as we’re both healthy
ALSO YOU: (running to mirror) Do I have a bump yet? Can anyone tell?
10) YOU: I am not going to be that person who posts on social all the time about being pregnant
ALSO YOU: Can’t wait to share a photo of our pregnancy scan!
Whatever story you are telling yourself KNOW that it’s totally normal lovely!
You’ll have EVERY kind of thought in the first few hours, days, and weeks. It takes time to process the BIG NEWS and adjust and whether you choose to shout your news from the rooftops or sit on it until your baby makes an appearance is up to you!
Your body, your baby, your growing family - congratulations!!!
