Boundaries are not barriers.
Boundaries are not always about OTHER people.
Boundaries are YOURS, created by YOU to support YOU in feeling happy, maintaining optimum state, and being productive in the world.
As a super-sensitive person I have multiple boundaries in place that make me feel good. Some are super simple. I like to coach in a totally empty house because then I can feel and fill the whole space energetically.
If I go shopping in a busy environment I will take regular breaks – I have even been known to camp out in a changing room for three minutes breathing space (not one item of clothing tried on).
If I socialise two nights back to back don’t expect a third because I thrive on downtime. It’s where my best creations come from.
I like to know if friends are going to call me ‘just to chat’ because that takes time and if you catch me at a moment where I’m not in a chatty frame of mind it’s not fun for either of us. If we’re chatting I want to be in the space for it.
Boundaries are NOT all about saying no to others, they’re not another way to make yourself right, wrong, mean or kind. They’re there because just like your skin they hold all of your vital pieces together.
Boundaries:
– know what you need
– know what you love
– be clear on what your boundaries are
– create them
– flex them when you need to
– when they fall down repair them
– love them
